Hi everyone, it has been a busy week, due to exams, marking days and now the ‘O’ levels. But its alright! One can always learn to spare some time just for working out which is fulfilling to your mind and body;)
Now, many of my friends ask me about what types of food to eat in order to grow muscles. Of course my immediate answer would be: PROTEIN!
Protein is a fundamental nutrient that your body needs daily. Carbohydrates provide your body with energy, whilst protein helps your muscles to recover and repair more quickly after your work-outs. Foods high in protein include whey, beef, chicken, fish, eggs, dairy products (but some can be high in fat) and soya. The amount of protein a person needs depends on how much pound he carries in himself. If he weighs at 150 pounds, then his body requires 150g of protein. Basically, 1 pound of body weight/ gram of protein.
Any form of exercise will increase your protein consumptions. A lack of protein can result in loss of muscle tissue and tone, a weaker immune system and slower muscle recovery. Those who are seeking to lose more fat and increase muscle mass, do not hesitate to adopt a high-qualitied protein diet plan as it can help speed up burning fats in your body and build muscle. The more muscles you have in your body, the faster you burn, that is why you need to eat foods every 2-3 hours, depending on your workout schedule and meal plans.
Backslide – It can take on a negative effect on you if you consume lots of protein and not work out. Some people say, if you do not work out, you will become fat after drinking those drinks or eating those bars. Theorectically bluntly speaking, yes it is true. But, you must know that it is only because the calories contained in the protein shakes are not burned out enough by your physical exercises. So the more protein you consume, the lesser you work out, you CAN put on weight and might even over-burn your kidneys. So beware and keep a good check on your diet and exercise plans;) Eat well, stay healthy and rest good.
